For Your Own Special Sweetheart

This album reminds me of a particular room in my ramshackle
fraternity house. It's not even a room I lived in, but certainly
had a better stereo. I put on this CD at full volume to blast
the song "Savory" I had just seen on 120 Minutes the
night before. Damn if that song doesn't still jump right out
at you. This is early to mid-90s college rock at its best. It
is amazing that back in '94 I thought this was hardcore when
listening to it today sounds like the blueprint for every hard
rock band that followed--crystal clean production and all. |
