Here's to Being Here

He's like a pop Jakob
Dylan with an oddly country twang, or a hi-fi lof-fi Beck
without the wink. The whole thing, including the scarf on the
cover, screams hipster, but like fun-hipster, not asshole hipster.
This is actually, upon a fresh listen, a pretty fine headphone
album, with Collette's voice front and center. Sure he seems
affected, but who doesn't love an old-fashioned Canadian country
crooner? Really a surprisingly decent record. |
