Was it still okay to say “Word to mutha” in 2002? I’m not one to push street vernacular, but I think Grand Puba’s time may have passed somewhere in the 90s and the disbanding of Brand Nubian. Their sound was "of the time." Now his sound is out of time. Most of the tracks just sound empty. Filled with little sing-songy choruses and frankly awkward nonsense. He just does very little actual rapping on an album that is waaaaay too long at 20 tracks (including the way-past-their-prime skits making fun of the music industry). ‘Member that Hammer come back?
