I was super-psyched to hear this album. I'm not even sure why, considering my knowledge of Mission of Burma is limited to the fact that I know Burma may or may not be some country on the coast in Asia. The first listen sounded like Guided By Voices lead by a weak singer. I can honestly say that I don't like the guys' voice very much. It's very, um, la-di-da, if you know what I'm sayin'. There are some interesting melodies in play here, but I just can't get into it enough to claim it as a classic. It's just missing that umph that makes a great album great.
