Silent Alarm
No, but seriously, the first time I heard
this album I almost shat myself. The opening drums on “Like
Eating Glass” made me want to pummel something--and apparently
made my sphincter let go. And then the second track, ‘Helicopter,’
hits and I’m all fudged-up once again. Such raw aggression
and control and cool ska undertones can’t be for real!
And then there’s the whole Cure
vibe in there as well. I’m not even sure where to go with
this thing, but it was one of, if not the most, exciting new
albums of 2005. There's no doubt that this one will endure,
even if their follow-ups fail to meet the intensity and great
vibe of this, their first, album. |
