Union Bar B 204 Park Ave. S., 212/674-2105 Union Bar is funny. We've never had a particularly good time there, yet we continue to go there. Whoever said location, location, location really had something. Located right outside Union Square, this place just screams central meeting point for an after work crowd. Come to think of it, we've never gone there on a weekend--or a Friday night for that matter. After all, why would we want to go hang out with a bunch of other people who are just at a place for convenience sake, and not because they feel like paying entirely too much for drinks and listening to awful music (I think the kids call it trance.) While passing through, at least they give you a nice space, replete with ottoman chairs and some booths in the back, all enveloped in a sort of low-light, spacey, SOHOish package. [MF] |
