Japanese cuisine for
the discerning Upper East Sider. Using the "open a restaurant in the
UES and people will come" technique, Shiki opened out of nowhere and
has gone exactly there. The restaurant averages about six people a
night, and it's a shame, as the decor is better than 99% of the places
in the neighborhood and the fish is fresh as any around -- yet the
less than cheap prices may scare away the college crowd. [MF]
