There are no gimmicks at this Astor Place area bar--and that's actually pretty refreshing. No little couches, no pinpoint halogens, no horrendous drum 'n bass music, no Hooters-like waitresses and no dented license plates or street signs nailed to the wall. It's just a good old fashioned bar, with that skinny/long set-up, a pressed tin ceiling, a few high tables in the back and a bunch of beers on tap. Sure it's mellow, sure it doesn't have a theme, women blowing Bicardi 151 fireballs or a svelte host with some sort of secretary headset thing, but it is still a solid place to eat some pretzels and suck down a couple dozen drinks with some buddies.
