This place is pretty
basic. You have your soups, sandwiches and a few salads. Along with
this normal lunchtime fun is a menu of Italian items, including pastas
and whatnot. I'm a big fan of the grilled chicken with avocado sandwich
on a baguette. It's a really simple thing that for some reason is
super-tasty and hearty for what it is. It's honestly big enough that
if you're not a giant pig like me, you could make two meals out of
it. At $6.75 a pop, it's actually not as pricey as some other chow
in the neighborhood, and does satisfy my two tenets of good grubbing:
proximity and freshness. I've eaten in the tiny space before, which
can be somewhat harrowing in the winter, as customers and the bitter
wind come through the swinging door to give you a nice icy blast in
the face. The chicken breast salad is also extremely simple (there's
like some lettuce and some chicken breast), and is what I reach for
when I don't want to feel like a post-holiday stuffed sausage. I've
seen a lot of the people do the half sandwich and soup special, but,
as I've said like a million times, I don't really do the soup-as-meal
thing. [MF]
