Somewhere between non-descript UES Japanese restaurants and obsession lies Isohama. Meaning, of course, that people obsessed with sushi might find this place palatable, but not exciting or new. There's no mistaking this place for anything else than a neighborhood restaurant, with very little traffic, not much flair and friendly, laid-back service. Not bad for a casual evening, but you're not going to win any style points if Japanese is your idea of impressing a date with your originality and open-mindedness. [MF]
