There are so many Irish
pubs in this city. There are so many boring, awful
Irish pubs in this city. Luckily for us, this isn't one of them. We
can't believe we've gone all these years in the city and have never
been here before. Judging by the youngish crowd, we're surprised we
didn't make it here seven or eight years ago. Fiddlesticks has the
true feeling of an Irish pub, including the awkward decor, friendly
crowd, good pub grub and, of course, tons of smoke. Of course, there's
no group playing traditional music, but we're sure we heard at least
three or four U2 songs. We're not promising that this is going to
be the best night of your life, but if you want to meet some friends
for some French onion soup, a burger and a bunch of beers in a friendly,
lively atmosphere, without all of the irritating pomp of other NYC
bars, then throw on a pair of jeans and come on down to this authentic
reproduction (if you can find it). [MF]
