Style over substance can pertain to so many things in this world. You got your models, fancy automobiles, foreign beers in cool bottles that taste like a skunk up and died in the mofo, and, of course, B. Smith's. In what amounts to a deco space on restaurant row, B. Smith's is the brainchild of a woman who can only be described as the black Martha Stewart. If you've ever watched Martha or B.'s show, you will see that a lot of the things they purport to cook look very nice (especially when they match the linens), but really don't look ready for human consumption. We're not saying that the Pan-Asian/Euro-type food at B. Smith's is inedible, just, well, uninspired. Save your money, and get a couple #45's from your local Chinese place. [MF]
